What makes Meades Umbrella different?

Meades Umbrella was born from our desire to serve our contractor clients in the best possible way.  As an accountancy firm we have always provided specialist services for contractors and freelancers however in 2017 HMRC changed which entity is responsible for determining IR35 contract status in the public sector, in 2021 the private sector followed suit.  

These changes meant that many contractors who were providing their services via their personal service companies (PSCs) required an umbrella company to continue to work on their inside IR35 contracts.

We looked for a solution to recommend, but all those we considered fell short of our expectations and the service levels our contractor clients deserve. 

When we couldn’t find a service to meet our expectations, we built one.

Initially our umbrella contractors were our existing clients but as they moved onto new contracts, we expanded our offering and Meades Umbrella has grown to become a successful business in its own right. 

Meades Umbrella is administered by the long established Meades Group and is owned and managed by qualified accountants. Compliance and transparency have always been at the heart of our operation and the same applies to Meades Umbrella.
